You know, the “hospital with a heart” sure has a lot of guts. It takes a large amount of testicular fortitude to actually look at their employees, many of whom are barely paid a living wage (and many of whom don’t even get that), and ask for money. And yet, that’s what they did a couple of days ago.
An anonymous source who was forced to sit through this (she had no option to gnaw off her arm like a coyote caught in a trap) revealed the typical Phoebe cheerleading that has often made me wonder if one of the services Phoebe offers is mind control. There was discussion of how great this program was…blah, blah, blah. The program is called “PEACH” Continue reading Speaking of Phoebe, they had a PEACH of an idea

Yesterday, Palmyra Medical Center got some welcome news. A hearing officer with the Certificate of Need (CON) Appeal Panel upheld an earlier decision to grant Palmyra permission to delivery babies here in Southwest Georgia. This was following an antitrust lawsuit filed by Palmyra against Phoebe Putney where they claimed that Phoebe monopolized some basic services…like “birthin’ babies”.
Phoebe, of course, doesn’t seem to see the problem. Continue reading The health care market just got a bit more free

In the wake of Do No Harm, I have once again heard the choir scream about how it’s unfair to target Phoebe because there are great people there, blah blah blah. Frankly, I’m a little tired of these people who can’t get their head out of their own butt to understand what the issue is here. They, with the help of people like Joel Wernick, seem incapable of grasping the fact that they’re not the target of any of the criticism.
Phoebe is doing it’s best to have people buffaloed in this town, aren’t they? Continue reading Understanding the difference

WALB and the producers for the documentary Do No Harm have reached an agreement, licensing the use of WALB footage for the film. The documentary is apparently critical of not only Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital and former District Attorney and current Attorney General candidate Ken Hodges.
Thanks to Mike over at The Provocateur for the heads up.

There are few things worse in a politicians life than the appearance of impropriety. It can be a killer for the campaign and potentially the career. Any campaigner worth their salt goes to great lengths to hide anything that may look untoward to the voter and journalists that keep those politicians in check. Unless, of course, you’re Ken Hodges. Continue reading Web of Suspicion

The Dougherty Count Commission is scared, and they should be. With Cooper Tire shutting down, the remaining local industries are even more important to the Albany economy. Masterfoods (formerly M&M/Mars), and Proctor & Gamble are just two. Now, P&G is making noises about relocating elsewhere, and the Commission is nervous.
Unfortunately, there’s only so much they can do. Continue reading P&G Tax Credits Are Only Part Of The Answer

What if you woke up one day and the Constitutional protection of free speech were gone? Let’s say, just hypothetically, that you could be prosecuted for saying what was on your mind? Well, based on the allegations in his lawsuit (Thanks to reader and commenter T. Rex for the pdf file) against former Dougherty District Attorney Ken Hodges, Mr. Charles Rehberg knows far, far to well already. [Continue]
