This one just won’t die!

Last year, one of the first bills I took on head on here on this site was HB 614, the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program. I teamed up with Jason and others across the State – including Neal Boortz at one point! – to get this bill killed once it was brought to our attention, and it died in the Senate only to have a resuscitation attempt made in the House in the form of an amendment to another bill.

Now, it has been re-introduced in a new bill, SB 418, minus the “Prescription Drug Monitoring Program” title. 418 is largely the exact same thing as 614. Clearly, there are elements within the General Assembly that desperately want this measure to pass.

History was made at our nation’s Capitol on September 12, 2009 as the nation descended on Washington D.C. The March on Washington was described by the National Park Service as the biggest event that the District of Columbia has ever experienced. There is a question of how many actually attended the rally. At one point the Daily Mail, a UK newspaper, estimated the turn out to be more than 2 million. I’ve read estimates from the National Park Service at 1.5 million, and the Albany Herald reported “tens of thousands.” Whatever the final tally is, the crowd was undeniably huge!

March on Washington…Albany Style[ September 10, 2009 – 9:51 am]by Bill Waller Posted in » Albany Dougherty County, National

I received a message from someone that wanted to know when the next Tea Party will be. As most of you know, there is a giant March on Washington that is being planned for this Saturday, September 12, 2009. Albany is sending several people up there. I know of six off of the top of my head that are either already there or will be there for this historic event.

Not everybody can go to Washington though. That is why we are planning a local gathering at Beef O’Bradys on Gillionville Road next to Darton College. Glenn Beck will be covering the March on Washington live from 1-3pm. I’ve reserved the room at Beef O’Bradys starting at 12:30pm. I have even made a Facebook event page for this gathering.
