but this doesn’t seem to be taken out of context at all:
Anyone who has seen this site knows that we are in NO way a fan of nearly-as-corrupt-as-Nathan-Deal Ken Hodges. That said, the full context of this particular clip, as provided by Jim Galloway:
The comment from Olens came during his closing remarks, when he was recapping his accomplishments as chairman of the Cobb County Board of Commissioners and the Atlanta Regional Commission:
“I’ve proven that I can work within a managed budget, and in fact I had surpluses every single year. In fact the main reason that I seriously considered running for attorney general rather than staying head of the ARC and Cobb County was that I was getting bored. It was not a challenge any more. The attorney general’s position provides a great opportunity and a dream come true for any trial lawyer. The ability to mix 27 years of civil litigation with 12 years of public service, to take on issues such as the water litigation that seems to go on ad nauseam, to be involved in redistricting….”
As I said on twitter last night, if this meme really catches on in the next couple of days, Sam Olens is toast.
That said, between the Bored One or the Corrupt One, I urge you to give the two-party system the third finger and do the Smart thing: Vote Don Smart for Attorney General! “The Taxpayers’ Best Friend and the Criminals’ Worst Enemy”
Last Thursday Rob Teilhet released an ad in the Democratic race for the Attorney General nomination that could well be a knockout blow if it gets enough airplay – though I have yet to hear about the size or location of the TV buy for it.
What follows the break is a press release we received earlier today via email. As this deals with the Phoebe Factoids case, and Attorney General candidate Ken Hodges, I felt that it needed to be shared with you as it appears. My opinions on Hodges is well known, and I won’t go into it any further, but I won’t lie and say this didn’t play into my decision to run this or not.
Yesterday, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals decided that Ken Hodges had immunity from the legal ramifications of his actions in regards to the now infamous “Phoebe Factoids”. No crimes were committed, and no crimes regarding thesending of the Factoids was ever alleged by any so-called victims, and yet Ken Hodges used his power to find out who was bloodying Phoebe’s nose in a public relations blitz. And yet, according the the Appeals Court, Hodges was just “doing his job” as he keeps claiming.
Last week, Attorney General Candidate Ken Hodges announced that if he becomes AG, he’ll create a civil rights office. Now, this was met with a lot of various responses, which is normal for any new office in a state department. After all, it’s our taxes at work and to many, that’s grounds to not open anything new.
While campaigning, staffers always fear that their candidate will say something stupid. In some cases, it’s inevitable. In others, it’s fixable. In still others, it’s just proof of how out of touch a candidate really is. What’s really amusing is when they couple a stupid comment, sometimes acceptable, with something that no one who knows them actually believes.
Sam Nunn. Former Senator. Former Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee. Once upon a time, one of the most powerful Democrats in the state of Georgia. Now, we can rank him among the clueless politicians in the state of Georgia who really don’t know who Ken Hodges really is with his endorsement of Hodges for Attorney General. Continue reading And now Nunn joins the list of the clueless
Tonight, we have two events that I personally think are both decently major – one in Albany, and one in Leesburg.
In Leesburg, the Lee County Board of Commissioners will meet at 6pm in the Couthouse Annex, and there will be a public hearing on the proposed boat ramp along Slappey Rd within yards of the LeDo line.
In Albany, at 7pm there will be a screening of the documentary Do No Harm, which details questionable dealings of Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital and also examines the infamous “Phoebe Factoids” case involving former Dougherty County District Attorney and current 2010 Attorney General candidate Ken Hodges. This will be at the Merry Acres Event Center.
So please, get out to these events. Talk to people. Let your voice be heard.
The sordid tale of Phoebe’s assault, with the help of Attorney General Candidate Ken Hodges, on the rights of Dr. John Bagnato and Charles Rehberg have been fairly well outlined here at SWGAPolitics.com. However, it’s also been fairly well known that these events were going to appear in a documentary called Do No Harm.
This is the same documentary hit with a cease and desist order by WALB for use of footage without permission. That situation has been settled and now the film is ready to be viewed.
A screening is set for here in Albany for October 13th at the Merry Acres Event Center. Show time will be at 7:00 PM. The film is free and open to the public, you just need to RSVP here.
In addition, there will be another screening in Atlanta on October 14 at the Landmark Midtown Art Cinema, also at 7:00 PM. RSVP for that showing here.
