The problems with the new energy policy

What follows originally appeared on TomKnighton.com.  When you get done here, come on over and read what else I’ve got going over there.

Last night, President Obama brought forth on this continent, a new policy regarding energy.  OK, it’s really not that new, but it’s getting a new emphasis. He lamented a lack of solar and wind power, and even commented on how the jobs being those things were over in China, rather than here in the good old US of A.  He lamented a lot of things, but apparently doesn’t grasp the reality of what he’s wanting. How the left is blowing it on the environment

I’m kind of weird.  You see, I’m a Libertarian environmentalist.  You see, I tend to be against a lot of these environmental controls, like cap and trade that won’t actually do anything except hurt the economy and raise prices but do nothing to actually help the environment.  When it comes to climate change, I’m skeptical on the causes, but it’s kind of irrelevant to me.  I like having clean water and clean air.

A Libertarian’s Take On Earth Day

Earth Day. The day we celebrate the Earth and how to keep her clean. I’m odd. Unlike a lot of Libertarians, I consider myself an environmentalist. I’m not alone either. Where Libertarian environmentalists diverge from other environmentalists is how we seek to accomplish that goal. Since our overall political goal is the end of regulations on the whole, many can’t fathom how we can be for the Earth and against regulation at the same time. Well, don’t try to fathom any more.
