I’ve heard some silly stuff in my day. Frankly, I’ve heard some ridiculous things just this morning. But this tidbit from the Cato Institute’s blog is possibly the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard.
We may or may not agree on whether we should require parental advisory stickers on music. We may or may not agree on whether we should have ratings on movies. I’m pretty sure we can all agree that a parental advisory isn’t needed on the United States Constitution, right? Continue reading Parental Advisory: May contain language encouraging liberty!

With the arrest of the suspected Times Square attempted bomber, I’m prepared to hear the calls that not all Muslims are extremists and that we shouldn’t hold the actions and thoughts of a few against the group as a whole. In all honesty, I’ll be one of those making those claims. While I believe all religions should be mocked, including my own, and often mock them myself (including my own), it’s ridiculous to lump all within a group together based on the words and actions of a few. The exception being if that one thing you’re judging them as is a central, published part of their beliefs. For example, it’s safe to say that the American Nazi Party is anti-Semitic.
But why is it that so many on one side will demonize on group and give another a pass? Continue reading Why tolerance for so few?

I’m still trying to get across to some the stupidity of Primary elections being paid for by the tax payers. Seriously folks, what is the purpose, why do we have political parties if their candidates are chosen by non members?
I have two schools of thought on the matter, the first being it gets them 3 months of uncontested advertising, because no 3rd party already on the Nov ballot should waste their time and money prior to all candidates being placed on the ballot. The second is that the only way the party could afford to choose a candidate fairly requires tax dollars and they know they can’t run a budget tight enough to do it without tax dollars.
I am amazed at the Tea Party groups that want fiscal conservatism yet let this blatant waste of tax payer money take place put your money where your mouth is either become a card carrying member of a Political party then help choose your parties ONE candidate per race, or wait until Nov to exercise your “Independent “vote.
When I mentioned this at a tea party meeting last night someone stated, “You have to have primaries” the truth is NO you don’t and NO you shouldn’t and anyone on the fiscally Conservative bus should be on this train of thought.

Being the Vice-Chair of the Libertarian Party, I contacted the Lee County BOC to reserve the room for our May 8 meeting, and was sent back an e-mail stating that I had to leave a $50 deposit w/ the County 1 week prior to the event. This isn’t the issue. The issue arose when I asked who would assure the room was clean and tidy when I arrived and who would verify that it would be left in the same condition when we left. With that I was meat with the response, “I don’t set the rates, the Board of Commissioners does.”
Here we go again! The great leaders of our County have again created what could possibly be a good policy, but failed to cover all of their bases with the administration end. Why must law makers continually make laws that they don’t have intentions of properly enforcing?
Again, I don’t have a problem with the $50 deposit, but If I am going to pay a deposit you better bet your sweet bottom that someone hands me the keys when I arrive and picks them up when I depart!

It has come to my attention fact that MANY Lee County residents don’t know! Louis Hatcher, currently up for re-election to the School Board in Lee County, took his son out of lee County and moved him to a school in FL simply to have a better chance at a football scholarship.
What kind of dedication to the County Schools does that show?
Someone needs to mount a challenge for the seat, it’s time for someone with a dog in the fight to run the show!

While attending the LP of Georgia convention I began to ask myself why the Tea Party and the Fiscally Conservative Republicans refuse to jump ship to a better Party!
In the State of Georgia there are nearly 100 seats every election cycle that are filled by the incumbent after receiving no competition. This is for the most part due to the ballot access laws keeping anyone but the two major parties out of the election. The Republicans and Democrats won’t tell you about those laws, but instead they will tell you a third Party simply couldn’t qualify. What they didn’t tell you is the 3rd party has to jump through hoops that the D/R don’t have to.
This year The Libertarian Party is running John Monds for Governor, if he receives 20% + 1 of the vote, the Libertarians can and will have ballot access to the D/R in 2012. I say this to you because fiscally conservative people REALLY need to look at Mr. Monds as a viable candidate. He isn’t an insider, he hates wasting money and he wants to bring business back to Georgia through a Free economy. Let’s face it EVERYONE has an inner libertarian. (unless you are on welfare)
Georgia is a run-off State, if you want change NOV is the time to put the change agent in place, Vote for who you truly feel will cut budgets, manage money intelligently and cut the fluff out of Georgia politics. If you are truly a fiscal conservative you need to quit listening to the media, do your own research and find out who believes in smaller government and lower taxes. With 3 people in the race If the public truly wants to show the D/R that change is a coming they MUST get in touch with their inner Libertarian and Vote Monds for Governor forcing a runoff for the States top office!

Just when you thought that ACORN being gone was enough to remove it from the headlines, former chief Bertha Lewis opens her mouth and makes you pray that you could staple it shut for an eternity. Two separate stories reminded me that she was still around, and still running her trap and proving the wisdom of the adage “better to remain silent and thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.” Continue reading ACORN: Gone, but not forgotten

It seems of late a lot of GOP members are starting to call the Libertarians hypocrites and warn of the parties clear disdain for morality. When in fact there is way more at play than what the GOP would like you to know. Libertarians are about the right’s of citizen’s to make their own choices free of government constraint. I have heard people go as far as saying that a Christian man could never be a Libertarian, which is complete hogwash.
1) On Drugs
FALSEHOOD – Libertarians are PRO-Drug
TRUTH – Libertarians are anti-drug law and anti-drug war, we believe consenting adults can make their own choices about how to live their lives. Sure if you are high and crash a car killing someone, you should receive serious punishment, but drug laws and mandatory sentencing for possession and distribution are ludicrous!
2) On Abortion
FALSEHOOD – Libertarians are for abortion
TRUTH – Libertarians are for allowing people their own choice about what medical procedures they wish to undertake. There shouldn’t be laws governing medicine and moral choices people make. Some Libertarians believe in abortion, Some Libertarians don’t ALL Libertarians agree that choice is a personal one, not one Government should be allowed to make for you!
3) On GAY Marriage
FALSEHOOD – Libertarians support GAY Marriage
TRUTH – Libertarians want to end the Government practice of recognizing marriages. Marriage is a religious covenant. (I know marriage was around before religion blah blah blah…in those times Marriage was a property deal, not about love etc.) If the Government didn’t recognize marriage why would Gays want to be married? For that matter why would anyone want to be married? The answer is religion! At that point if a church recognized Gay marriage good for them, not my place to judge them or their religion.
I could continue running down issues all day long, but the key to “GETTING LIBERTARIANISM” is the ability to allow people freedom of choice on issues of morality, that doesn’t mean we condone the act, just that we don’t feel the Government needs to intrude on our God given free will.

There are demented minds behind the Comedy Central animated hit South Park. Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the show’s creators, have made their fortunes in this world by blasted every group equally and accepting nothing as sacred. They’ve gotten away with it because everyone is fair game. When Isaac Hayes left the show when they took aim at his faith (Scientology), he cited religious tolerance. Parker and Stone simply asked why he didn’t leave when they made fun of Christianity, Judaism, Hari Krishnas or whoever else they had riffed on previously.
And now, Parker and Stone are in trouble with radical Islam. Continue reading South Park versus Mohammed

When my twitter feed popped up, I found this juicy tidbit from Reason Magazine editor-in-chief Matt Welch:
Awesome: “being ‘libertarian’ and ‘tolerant’ provides cover for doing such things as smoking dope and having gay sex” http://bit.ly/anOrqi
The link, lead to this piece over at rightsidenews.com. Oh. My. God.
Yes, boys and girls, it’s every bit as idiotic as as Welch’s twitter indicated. Kincaid, who’s official title is “Editor of Accuracy in Media”, claims that while libertarians are fine when it comes to fiscal policy, we are in line with progressives when it comes to “social” issues. He decries Hot Air, a generally conservative blog, leaning more libertarian and the inclusion of libertarians on Fox such as Judge Andrew Napolitano and John Stossel. After all, libertarians are apparently just as evil as progressives. Continue reading Cliff Kincaid: Jerk of the Day
