SWGA Patriots Just Lost All Credibility With Me

On the SWGA Patriots site, they have a post from a man named Mike Sabot.

I’ve known Sabot for nearly a year now. We first met last April when I was working to get the area liberty movement moving. It was the same meeting that I met a number of people, including many who I consider good friends now.

Sabot is not one of them.

Sabot was someone I once thought reliable, and early last summer I invited him to be an author at this site because he was providing a lot of information about the Lee County Commission that at the time I thought was credible.

Then I found out otherwise.

Sometime in July, I got a call from a local politician. He said that Sabot was essentially making stuff up, and he told me where I could go to examine the facts for myself. I looked at those facts and realized that Sabot was, in fact, lying. And what was worse is that he was using MY site, the site that I founded and had worked so hard to build up, as a place to spew his lies.

I talked to Tom about it, and I confronted Sabot privately via a one on one email. He refused to correct his posts, so I took it a step further and emailed him again, completely laying out all of the facts of the matter, and included many area members of the media and select local politicians in this email. He still refused to correct his post, and because of his refusal to correct his mistake, I had no choice but to publicly disown him.

This is from the public warning I gave Mike:

But Mike has recently made an issue of potential alcohol in the new Lee County Library without ever seeing a floor plan, and earlier this week he accused some of the Lee County Commission – Ed Duffy and Rick Muggridge in particular – of illegal and/or unethical acts that had not yet occurred and in fact, DID NOT occur. He has also recently circulated an email claiming that the Lee County Commission was going to raise millage rates ‘over and above’ the amount that homeowners are now having to pay due to the General Assembly making the correct call of disbanding the Homeowners’ Tax Relief Grant during these troubled economic times. In fact, the millage rate stayed the same, while the Lee County School Board millage rate went up slightly.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I do my best to be as honest and accurate as possible both in my reporting and in my editorializing, and I WILL NOT stand for one of my contributors to put forth such lies. My own sources say Mike was corrected on at least one occasion prior to him sending these emails and writing these posts, and yet he sent them out anyway. In fact, it is due to these very issues that I personally will not be joining the Lee County Taxpayers Association so long as Mike Sabot is affiliated with it in any way.

Mike Sabot is a known liar who will literally make up facts on the spot to support whatever wild conspiracy theory he has in his head at the moment. Is it any wonder he avidly supports both Lee County Commissioner Dennis Roland and GAGOV candidate Ray McBerry – both of whom at least share his propensity for believing in conspiracy theories?

Because SWGA Patriots harbors this nut, they have lost absolutely all credibility with me.
