A former Marine Pilot has decided to do what Johnny Isakson refuses to: uphold the Constitution in Congress and fight for our freedom on the grounds of Capitol Hill just as hard as he fought for our freedom in the skies when he served in the Marine Corps during the Reagan administration.
In a quote on his website, Chuck Donovan says “As a Marine Corps officer, I learned that one must lead from the front. The Democratic and Republican party leadership have refused to make the difficult, unpopular decisions necessary to correct the problems they themselves have brought upon our great country. They have led us into a very dangerous and unprecedented situation from which there is no painless way out. Still, they only respond with more government.”
Donovan also said “Because the Republicans and Democrats have consistently delivered bigger government, more complex taxation, deeper debt and more egregious violations of our Bill of Rights, I believe the Libertarian Party is the only hope to restore our Constitution, our economy, and our rights.” in an email message to the Libertarian Party of Southwest Georgia.
With a campaign slogan of “My mission is Freedom. My time is now.”, I look forward to hearing more from Mr. Donovan in the coming months!
Well, this is sounding good. I certainly don’t have any problem getting off Johnny’s train–he and I are not seeing eye-to-eye these days.
How many blogs must recognize you as a real candidate before you’re considered a challenger? Ahh conventional wisdom… this is going to be fun. rj
RJ,
I honestly didn’t know about you when I posted this. Credit either the fact that you haven’t been mentioned in the circles I run in, or the fact that I really do need to expand the Democratic circles I run in. I’ve got a LOT of people I talk to in Libertarian and Republican circles… Democrat, not so much – yet.
Apologies, sir.
Jeff,
Thanks but absolutely no apologies needed. We’re all frustrated with the way things are and I actually want to be a true public servant. We’re all in this together and I’m not interested in serving the corporate monster. I’ll have to get used to being marginalized by the media and the political establishment. Appreciate the effort it takes to keep this blog alive. rj
Jeff: there is a video of R.J. speaking to a group linked in a post on my blog from Oct–Keith at Peanut Politics hooked me up with it and RJ is one bright guy. I like Ike but RJ is the future of the Dem Team. (Yes, I tried to get him to run for the House, then again I try to get everyone to run for the House.)
