Slaps on the wrist, but hoping to get a bigger fish

Nicole Brown and Tim Washington seem to be getting slaps on the wrist, probably in an effort to make sure Buie goes to prison for a long, long time. Both will pay restitution, Washington in accordance with a promissory note he had signed with ADICA and Brown will pay $1000, and seemingly little else.

Curious Indeed

As I mentioned in a comment on the “The Christmas War” post, a headline came through my twitter feed yesterday that sounded interesting, so I pursued it as my post this morning.

The headline in question was “THE Lawsuit I’ve Been Waiting For: Non-Muslim Employees Sue Hertz Over Paid Breaks for Muslims“, and I’ve only found a SINGLE news story out of Massachusetts about it.

The wild thing is that this involves a decently large employer – Hertz Rental Cars – at the world’s busiest airport – Hartsfield Atlanta. What the suit is alleging is that Hertz allowed its Muslim employees to take additional paid breaks that its non-Muslim employees were not allowed, and thus set in religious discrimination. According to the Telegram story, Hertz has said in a court filing in a similar case that non-Muslim employees had “no need for such an accommodation”.

Yet I have seen ZERO news stories from the Atlanta Journal Constitution or any other Atlanta media on this story. CNN hasn’t picked it up. Nothing from MSNBC or even Fox. Just the single news story from Worchester, MA, the blog I linked to above, and now this one.
