Question: How do you defend a man accused of threatening to beat his wife?
Austin Scott didn’t. Karen Handel didn’t. Eric Johnson, Jeff Chapman, Nathan Deal, and Ray McBerry have yet to weigh in publicly on the issue. Heck, even the 100+ strong House Republican Caucus was prepared not to!
But John Oxendine actually defended a man accused of threatening to both physically beat his wife as well as use the considerable power he had as one of the three most powerful men in Georgia Politics to “track her down”.

Obviously, the biggest story in Georgia Politics this week has been the saga over Glenn Richardson. Until now, I’ve mostly kept my commentary to reporting on the speculation of what was happening and noting that it is truly sad to see a man’s life utterly fall apart.

Nicole Brown and Tim Washington about both plead guilty for their part in the downtown scandal. Brown plead guilty to theft by taking and conspiracy, while Washington plead guilty to theft by conversion and making a false report according to an email from WALB. This morning, Karen Handel – widely seen as the Governor’s hand-picked successor – would have liked you to believe that she was the first GOP GAGOV candidate to call for Speaker Richardson’s resignation. The problem for her is that she wasn’t – Austin Scott was. (Scott was featured in the original 9:21a article, Handel was in the 9:41a update)

I mean, he went from King of the Mountain to living in a jail cell in 2009, so I’m sure he’s confident that 2010 can’t get any worse. But 2009 just did, with his attorney’s bid for a change of venue kicked out of court, the judge saying that media coverage hasn’t biased the pool of potential jurors.
Yeah, it’s been a rough year. Continue reading Buie’s having a rough year, ain’t he?

Yep, it is that time of year again. The time for feelings of peace on earth and good will to men. The time of frenzied last minute materialistic shopping for that trinket that will probably be in the trash can before Easter.
And the time for Christians to get all up in arms over people saying “Happy Holidays” rather than “Merry Christmas”. Yes, these “Christians” – many of whom claim to be freedom-loving Constitutionalists – want to dictate to both individuals and organizations what they must say at this time of year.
But they face two problems, one governmental and one business, though both truly are the same problem:
Christianity isn’t the only religion in the world, much to many of these would-be dictators’ chagrin.
