Ray McBerry’s New Commercial

Here’s Ray McBerry’s newest commercial:

The vast majority of this commercial would kill any chance he had in a General Election, but he stands no chance of getting there, so that part is irrelevant.

However, he DOES say something here I agree with, which is why I decided to go ahead and post his commercial here. He says that he will work “aggressively” to put “abortion mills” under the same regulations as any other similar (re: outpatient) medical facility. That part, I actually completely agree with him on.

But here’s something that is curious about Mr. McBerry on this issue:

Government regulation of healthcare is not explicitly in either the US or the GA Constitutions. Mr. McBerry has stated over and over that if it isn’t explicitly in the Constitution, it is not a valid function of government. Yet Mr. McBerry supports regulating “abortion mills”, and doesn’t support ending regulation of other medical facilities!

I happen to agree with him insofar as all medical facilities should face the exact same regulations, and this is consistent with my opinion on marriage equality, among other issues: YES, government regulations should be exactly equal across the board – IFF they exist to begin with. I hold that these regulations should not exist to begin with, and that medical decisions should be between a person and their doctor – and NO ONE else! Similarly, I hold that a marriage should be between the people directly involved and whatever religious organization they wish to have perform the ceremony, and NO ONE else!

So why does Ray McBerry, who would go to war with the US Government over them regulating what kind of firearms you can have (among other issues), stand FOR unconstitutional government regulations of private medical decisions???
