Proms and Lesbians In the Bible Belt [ March 12, 2010 – 1:14 pm] by Jeff Posted in » General

I don’t know if y’all have seen this one, but over the past couple of days a story has come out about a certain high school senior in Mississippi. Seems this student likes to date girls and wants to wear a tux to prom.

The problem? The student’s name is Constance rather than Conrad.

Yes, Constance is a lesbian, and rather than just showing up at her prom wearing a tux with her girlfriend on her arm, she checked with the school to make sure she would be allowed to attend when she did. (There is a bit of debate over what she should have done here, and I’ve heard from both sides. Personally, I think she probably did the smart thing at this point in the story.)

The school refused, and when she threatened a lawsuit, the school cancelled prom altogether.

The Question Ray McBerry Ducked[ November 11, 2009 – 9:25 pm]by Jeff Posted in » 2010 Campaigns

Here’s his speech from Saturday’s Tift Area Tea Party Patriot’s GOP GAGOV Round Robin, in two parts because it was roughly 12 minutes long and Youtube has a strict 10 minute limit.

In this video, McBerry flat out admits to being a Theocrat. He also says he was a history teacher in public and private schools at K-12 and university levels – this will play a key role in a few minutes…

The one good thing he says is when he admits that the problems in Washington are not just because of Democrats, but also because of Republicans. “It is time that we stop giving people a pass at the ballot box because they have a R beside their name or a D beside their name” was probably the single statement he said that I could not possibly agree more with.

Veteran’s Day[ November 11, 2009 – 8:45 am]by Tom Posted in » Editorial

I write this mere moments after leaving the American Legion Post 30’s Veteran’s Day celebration. Present there, along with myself was Albany Mayor Willie Adams, City Manager Al Lott, Dougherty County Comission Chairman Jeff Sinyard, and Congressman Sanford Bishop. Me. In a room with all of these people.

Yes, the American Legion is still standing. Yes, everyone left in the same relative condition as they were when we got there. Miracles really do happen, don’t they? Read More …

Happy Veterans Day![ November 11, 2009 – 7:55 am]by Jeff Posted in » General

There really are no words to accurately describe how thankful I am for our veterans. I’ve known hundreds over my life, as we all have, and the vast majority of the ones that I’ve known have continued to serve their communities long after their days of spit-shined boots are over.

These men and women put their lives and fortunes on the line so that I wouldn’t have to, and I can at least put one post a year on my own website honoring and thanking them. From the very bottom of my heart, thank you! I do apologize for the brevity of this post – the things I hold most dear I can never find ways to really talk about, and anyone in my family and friends can vouch for that.

One note about the day, for those unaware: Veteran’s Day is the day set aside to honor the living soldiers who have served our country. Memorial Day is the day set aside to remember the fallen. Just FYI as you honor the soldiers today.

GA State Representative Calls For War Against US Government[ November 11, 2009 – 7:13 am]by Jeff Posted in » 2010 Campaigns, State

As I was checking Facebook before heading out to work, I came across the status in the screen grab after the jump from State Representative Bobby Franklin (R-Marietta).

In it, he states “As we remember our veterans today, let’s hope that someday soon maybe perhaps some will be willing to pay the ultimate price for freedom here at home.” (emphasis mine)

This is a CLEAR call for Civil War – soon – from a sitting member of the Georgia General Assembly!!!!

Of course, he is also a complete moonbat whackjob that no one in power listens to, and very few not in power listen to.

And he is EXTREMELY closely associated with “States’ Rights” Governor Candidate Ray McBerry – indeed, he is the sponsor for those 10 States’ Rights bills McBerry is so proud of!

I will update this story later tonight with more details and thoughts.

John Oxendine Speech at Tifton Forum[ November 11, 2009 – 6:18 am]by Jeff Posted in » 2010 Campaigns

Just and FYI on formatting here: For this series from the Tifton forum, I will put the video first followed by my comments.

“If you wanna know what someone is going to do in the future in another elected office, look to see what they’ve done in the past.” (right at the 1:40 mark). Gee, Ox has accepted $120K in potentially illegal campaign contributions, told a person they had to remove a private sign from their private property, and bullied a 15 yo kid. Does he REALLY want to be making statements about looking to the past to see what a person will do in the future?
