The Final Nail?

Since January it has been obvious that President Obama has been building something. The question was always what? From the Executive Orders on his first day to the installment of radical “Czars” to his desire to set up a Civilian National Security Force that is “just as well funded as our military.” What has President Obama been building?

Five days prior to the inauguration, the President said, “We are just five days away from fundamentally transforming America.” What has he been building?

Well, after Sunday’s vote on the healthcare bill, it has become obvious. The President and the ones that voted on this bill have been building a coffin. They are in preparation for the murder of freedom and democracy in our Republic.

Yes, even our own “conservative” Blue Dog Democrat Rep. Sanford Bishop has been holding nails and swinging the hammer (when he wasn’t giving fist bumps to the Commander in Chief at the speech to the joint sessions of Congress.) He has really demonstrated time and again this year that he was a Blue Dog in name only. It was a ruse to get the conservative vote. It worked in the past. Even I voted for him several years ago when I was new to the district and my conservative buddies told me that we could depend on him. That will never happen again though. Representative Bishop voted for Cap and Trade, a measure that would (as the President himself stated) necessarily cause energy rates to sky rocket. He co-sponsored Card Check which could allow labor unions to unionize businesses without the benefit for a secret ballot, and he voted “yes” in yesterday’s healthcare bill. In the end, a Blue Dog Democrat is still a Democrat. He is willing to be a lapdog rather than a Blue Dog, and frankly that dog won’t hunt around here anymore.

Now the 1900 page bill which has the power to regulate EVERYTHING from what you drive, to what you eat, to how much you exercise—all in the name of a healthier society, will make its way to the Senate. The Senate will most likely not vote for this bill, but will vote for a watered down version because they will get the Republicans to play along if they are asked to vote for something less intrusive on your freedom of choice. With a little more arm twisting, the bill will bounce back through the House and then pass the Senate through reconciliation with all of the bells and whistles such as abortion funding, public option insurance, etc—the Holy Grail in the minds of the progressives. Reconciliation limits debate and amendments and empowers the majority party. A bill going through reconciliation only requires 51 votes rather than 60 to pass. It seems that they will pull every trick that they know to force this bill on the voters.

What can be done about it now? America is very angry. If this fire continues to burn through November of 2010, we stand to see some real change in Washington. Most of this bill will not take affect until 2013. I suspect that it could be repealed if the major players are removed from office. This could be the last best shot that our country has in prolonging what little liberties we have left. Pray for more time, pray for wisdom for all of our leaders, and pray for the life of our Republic.

This morning on Glenn Beck’s radio program, Chris Baker, who filled in today, had Congressman Ted Poe from Texas as a guest. I didn’t get to hear it all, but Rep. Poe, who is a former judge, said this whole thing is WAY beyond unconstitutional, and that he and some others are sitting on ready and waiting to fight this. For good measure, I hand-wrote letters and snail-mailed them to Sens. Chambliss and Isakson. Chambliss was on Michael Smerconish this morning, and from what he said, I feel like his head is in the right place where this is concerned. I wrote to offer them both an atta-boy, and encourage everyone else to do the same. And, yeeeeah, Bishop’s butt is GRASS in 2010.

Speaker Pelosi has no respect for the Constitution. IIRC, when she was questioned regarding the constitutionality of the healthcare reform bill, her response was: “Are you serious? Are you serious?”.

We really need to let the Senate know how we feel about the House bill. Many in the Senate are waiting to gauge public reaction. A weak reaction will be interpreted as a green light to Senate Democrats. If we can stop Healthcare reform in the Senate, we can stop Cap & Trade and Immigration Reform. This is a turning point for the future of our nation. It is not a time for gutless complacency. I said it once before – Self-Interest and apathy are formidable foes.
