Let’s start off with Karen Handel and Voter Verification. You’ll remember that this is the issue of Handel’s office blatantly and flagrantly violating Federal law, specifically Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act. First, she got sued over it, and the US Circuit Court of North GA told her that she had to follow Federal law and get US Department of Justice pre-clearance before implementing her proposed changes to voter data verification – which also included, in her proposed changes, citizenship verification. The Court’s decision was handed down last year, and Ms. Handel did as told and submitted her changes to the US DOJ for approval – and was denied. So she appealed the decision, and was recently denied again. Now, she plans to continue to waste taxpayer money on an appeal that she should rightfully lose. After all, the process she wanted to implement had a SIXTY PERCENT failure rate!
But hey, she’d pulling off Bob Rumson‘s strategy for winning elections perfectly!
We have serious problems to solve, and we need serious people to solve them. And whatever your particular problem is, I promise you, Bob Rumson is not the least bit interested in solving it. He is interested in two things and two things only: making you afraid of it and telling you who’s to blame for it. That, ladies and gentlemen, is how you win elections.
Moving on, we find a couple of things about John Oxendine. Not only are his most ardent fan-boys shooting his campaign in the foot – maybe higher – but he also continues to try to use lies which have already been exposed as such in saying that he has received more votes than any Democratic candidate in three of the past four general elections in his most recent campaign email. Furthermore, apparently a new Rasmussen poll has come out that shows his support FALLING by 4% in the past two months – to BELOW the 30% threshold that the Ox camp has been saying they would never drop below. That 4% has moved to the “undecided” column as more and more people don’t know who they will vote for – but know it will NOT be the Ox.
While I believe most Georgians would consider voter verification a worthy issue, I fully agree Karen Handel should lick her wounds and move forward for the time being, for the good of our state. We have far more seriuos issues which need addressing. Sometimes you have to put an issue on the back burner for another day. If she is serious about solving our states problems, then she has far bigger fish to fry. Its sad she doesnt plan to stay around as secretary of state to finish what she started. But then that is a pattern of hers, isnt it? How can we trust someone who never seems to appreciate the job Georgias citizens elected her to do, especially when she puts her own political ambitions before the needs of those citizens? The only track record she seems to have is one of continuiously running for higher office. Her record of accomplishments are pretty much null and void. I’ve heard her say plenty about what she’s gonna do, yet havn’t seen much of anything shes accomplished in any of her past or current jobs.
As for For John Oxendine, what can I say that I havent already said numerous times on this blog? Its no wonder his numbers are starting to erode. The citizens of Georgia know a loser when they see one. His campaign is sinking like the Titanic. But dont worry about Oxendine. Once he loses the primary, and leaves public office, he will have a great future working as a motivational speaker for sleazy insurance lobbiests, Highway developers, and snake oil salesmen.
