Kathy Cox Coming to Albany

A couple of weeks ago, I attended the October meeting of the Lee County GOP. It was a very informative meeting with a speech and Q/A session with State Rep Ed Rynders, but there was also an event announced for this week, and I said I would give it as much publicity as this blog can generate:

State Superintendent of Schools Kathy Cox will hold a meet and greet fundraiser at the Corner Cafe on Dawson Rd in Albany this Thursday, Oct 22, at 5:30pm.

If nothing else, this will be a good chance to actually get out and meet the current and potential future Superintendent, and I encourage everyone to show up.

Jeff, thanks for posting this! I saw it this weekend at Corner Cafe, but couldn’t remember which day it was.

Doesn’t she have the similar issues about unpaid debts and tax liens as Arthur K. Williams? If thats the case then why is Arthur any less qualified to hold office? He is experienced and competent (and his opponent Christopher Pike seems to be neither.)

Just curious Willie, but when did anyone here say that Kathy Cox is “qualified”? Mentioning this isn’t an endorsement by any means, much less a statement about her qualifications. I’ve heard nothing of her having outstanding tax debt, but she apparently did file bankruptcy. In a statement, she indicates it was necessary due to the hit the housing market took (her husband is a homebuilder apparently).

As for Arthur Williams, his legality to run was determined by the election board. While I don’t necessarily agree with the decision, I wouldn’t have agreed with the decision regardless who was running.

As for competent, that’s got to be either a joke, or a typo. I remember Williams’ previous tenure on the City Commission all to well to describe it in any way as “competent”.
