McBerry Bringing States’ Rights Tour To Albany Tomorrow

We have had many gubernatorial candidates come to Albany so far. I have seen John Oxendine, Karen Handel, and Austin Scott in the Good Life City. Another candidate will be coming tomorrow evening.

As part of his States’ Rights tour, Ray McBerry, will be visiting Albany on September 22, 2009 at the Doublegate Country Club. There is no admission fee. The program begins at 6:30pm.

McBerry is an interesting candidate because he is not a politician. He is a Constitutionalist.

I urge you to come out and become informed. Why trust the media to tell you for whom to vote when the candidates themselves are coming to Albany for you meet.

Maybe there’s a reason we’re losing newspapers

That newspapers are having trouble is about as much of a secret as Kanye West’s opinion of Beyonce’s video. Everyone understands that it’s happening, and some in Washington are concerned. Their belief is that newspapers are vital in maintaining a free society, and Obama is quoted as saying that the print media is “critical to the health of our democracy.”

And now the President is considering backing a plan that would offer tax incentives for newspapers that restructure as non-profits. Of course, what do you expect from a government that acts as though profits are evil, and ignores the problem many have with print news. Another Weekend, Another Straw Poll

Saturday, Oglethorpe County was the site of the latest battle for the week’s bragging rights. Amidst what was apparently some pretty heavy rain, the Oglethorpe and surrounding county GOPs got together and hosted a Low Country Boil. Food and politics, always a good combination!
