Over the past few months, one of the big topics of discussion in Lee County has been the new Library. I’ve been poring over the available data on that over the past few days, and I gotta say, by and large, I agree with the Commissioners on this one.
Now, for those who have been with us since the beginning (and I don’t even think Tom has been around THAT long), y’all saw back in January where I tried to have a discussion on government and libraries in general. (Kind of hard to have a discussion when you’re getting MAYBE 5 views a day, as I was lucky to do those first couple of weeks. Just FYI there. )
With that noted, however, I’ve been looking at the online data as far as what the Commissioners were presented with and what I was able to find regarding population density and current library locations. [Continue Reading]
Sources have revealed to SWGA Politics that apparently ADICA was indeed audited in recent years. At least two, as a matter of fact. This information was revealed at today’s City Commission meeting by city finance director Kris Newton.
As shots rang out in the 200 block of North Madison on Saturday, lives where changed forever. For 20 year old Christopher Childress, it was the end of his. For 22 year old Reginald Wilson, he now has to live with taking the life of another human being in self defense. Luckily for Wilson, Dougherty County District Attorney Greg Edwards said there won’t be charges filed on top of everything else.
Just for those that weren’t aware, per the Lee County website, there will be a special called meeting of the Lee County Board of Commissioners today at 2:30 in the Kinchafoonee Conference Room at the T. Page Tharp Governmental Building.
We are being told that this meeting will revolve around at least one of the two following issues:
the new Animal Shelter
the new Library/Conference Center
The public is invited to attend, but once again, this is a daytime meeting.
With their Tuesday meeting, the Dougherty County Commission seems to have had a pretty busy day. They seem to be taking on consolidation again, and perhaps actually do the right thing this time (the previous vote on the issue was a 3-3 tie), and managed to completely ignore the lessons on oversight regarding downtown operations that the City of Albany has so painstakingly illustrated over the past week.
As Daniel said in response to my last post about John, we’ve been experiencing some growing pains over the summer at LP-Ga in regards to our tech. As a matter of fact, I’m one of the ones helping test some of that tech out, by way of the LP-SWGA site.
But all of that is nearing an end, and both LP-Georgia and John Monds for Governor are about to hit the ground running, and running FAST.
In all honesty, I’m REALLY looking forward to it. This is the Party and this is the Candidate that I absolutely feel is best for this State, and I can’t WAIT to help them spread their message.
To steal a phrase from my friend Vincent Hunt, Let’s Go!
