If guns cause crime, then explain this one

Over the last six months, there has been a drastic increase in firearm purchases. Gun enthusiasts can also tell you about the increase in ammo sales as well, ammunition leaving the store almost as fast as it gets there. And, since gun control groups will be the first to tell you that the only way to get rid of crime is to get rid of guns, I’d love to hear them explain this report from the Washington Post. Government versus the people

It looks like it’s all but a done deal. Judge Sonia Sotomayor will be the next Justice of the Supreme Court. However, this needs to worry a lot more people than it probably does. Senator Charles Schumer, who’s always good for a quote, pointed out with some satisfaction that Sotomayor has “ruled for the government in 83% of immigration cases, in 92% of criminal cases.”

Congressional Telework

Over the weekend I had a chance to talk with an old friend of mine. We had lost touch over the years, and I was excited to hear that his life has taken a course similar to mine. He is becoming more engaged in the political process and taking the debate directly to the politicians.

This friend of mine petitioned his Congressman to consider teleworking, an idea that I found fascinating.

This past Albany Journal has an interesting tale that didn’t get much mention anywhere else. It’s a tale of a development company who the city managed to pull the rug out from under on a development deal. Now, the city granted approval in 2006, but now they’re not so sure.
