[UPDATED] Austin Scott is Walking Through Southwest GA

As I noted when I first posted about State Rep Austin Scott‘s Walk of Georgia, I’ve been checking in with its site, www.walkingwithaustin.com at least every couple of days or so since the walk began two weeks ago today.

As of yesterday, Scott hit the 200 mile mark somewhere around Columbus – meaning he is now entering the general SWGA area. So if you get a chance this over the next week or two, Scott will be in the area – you should go meet up with him. As I learned when I interviewed him nearly two months ago, he really is very open and approachable, and he really is interested in hearing what you have to say.

I plan to join him wherever he is in the area next Saturday, when I’m guessing based on what he’s done so far he’ll be somewhere in the Colquitt/Bainbridge area. I had intended to join him when he was closer to Randolph/Calhoun counties, but it looks like that will be this weekend or at some point this week – and I do have a day job! Regardless, I’ll do at least one post here on this site about the experience – and I’ll even try to throw in some pictures! I’ll have my blackberry on me, so I may even be posting sporadic tweets along the way!

To find out exactly where he is, I’m sure you can use the contact page of walkingwithaustin.com or feel free to shoot me a line via our own contact page here and I’ll get in contact with him and get back to you.

[UPDATE @ 8:05a] I just spoke with Rep Scott, who said they are getting a ‘late’ start due to unforseen circumstances, but they are hitting the pavement as I type this in the South Columbus area. What you may find interesting about this is based on what I know from talking to him and Brett Taylor, his assistant, this is truly a late start for them – they generally start around 6:30-7am every morning.
