Yet Another LIE from John Oxendine

This was was so blatant, Snopes had it.

Seriously y’all, do we REALLY want a Governor that peddles lies so blatant and well known that even the well-known Snopes.com has covered them – and proven them wrong?

If Ox and Company can’t do a basic fact check on something so minor as this, what will happen when the issue at hand is much more critical?

Will they not verify their information first, and spread misinformation to the public in an effort to pander and make themselves look good?

subject:July 4th: What Was the Cost?
message:
What happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence?

Five signers were captured by the British as traitors. These were tortured before they died. Twelve signers had their homes ransacked and burned. Two signers lost sons serving in the Revolutionary Army. Yet another signer had two sons captured. Finally, nine of the 56 signers fought and subsequently died from wounds or hardships received during the Revolutionary War. Indeed, as the last line of the Declaration states, the entire contingent pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor.

These heroes came from all walks of life. 11 were merchants. Nine were farmers or large plantation owners. Twenty-four were lawyers or jurists. But as they signed the Declaration of Independence, they did so knowing full well that the penalty would be death if they were captured.
Truly, liberty is a blessing.

This year, join me in remembering those Americans in harm’s way on the front lines of freedom around the globe.

Ivy and I send you each of you our very best this Independence Day weekend.

Governor 2010

Jeff, even the Snopes.com article says it has some truth to it. Oxendine didn’t write it, he passed it on, like hundreds of my friends and family have. Are you calling them liars as well? They perpetuated this story long before Oxendine.

In all honesty Jeff, I can’t call this a lie. Wrong? Absolutely. But I’ve read this bit myself and it certainly sounded plausible enough that I never bothered to check it’s accuracy either. While it may not be correct, being wrong is a lot different than intentionally misleading someone. An error and a lie are different things entirely.

Honestly Jeff here you go again, Yes you! I watched you the first time – calling the Commissioner a liar about the contribution story from the AJC – which the AJC fabricated. I know the whole story behind what really happened and what you wrote in your blog was wrong. You didn’t know what you were talking about then.
Now this, Why don’t you tell us the truth since you think you know so much?
You know Jeff you need to quit playing your little political games and help the rest of us try to save this country from becoming a socialist state. Republicans are not your enemy, as you put it last month after your visit to the Lee County Republican Meeting. I do remember you writing such non-sense on Twitter. Commissioner John Oxendine is not your enemy. I certainly am not your enemy. You are your worst problem right now.
Many people have quoted the very same thing as the Commissioner has and he is another patriotic American wanting to do something to save this great country from the very tyranny our forefathers faced. Maybe it’s time you do the same too.

    Charlie,

I agree, socialists are a problem – and John Oxendine is just as much of one as Barack Obama or Nancy Pelosi or any of the others in Washington you so-called ‘conservatives’ want to demonize.

The fact that many people have spread a lie doesn’t make it any more true. Hell, that is one of the reasons sites like Snopes.com exist!

As far as the campaign contribution scandal, its all in the documentation – and if it wasn’t accurate, why did Oxendine fumble it so badly?

No, the FACT of the matter is that John Oxendine is an ignorant, hypocritical, theocratic, socialist Statist LIAR – and his own campaign does such a good job of making those points that I really don’t have to work very hard to prove them.

Ignorant: 32 > 27, per the GMA poll he said he ‘led’. Thinks he will have any control over FairTax at all, when even John Linder, the co-author of the Sacred Book of FairTax, has said that it is a Federal issue, not a state one.

Hypocritical: Says he supports liberty, yet won’t allow the citizens of Georgia to choose for themselves whether to sale alcohol on Sundays.

Theocratic: the above hypocrisy is due to his own personal religious belief

socialist: wants the State to take over Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport

Statist: Thinks Big Brother ought to be involved in a wide range of issues, including education, health care, and what you can and can’t say.

LIAR: Both the GMA poll and this article that Snopes.com had debunked a decade ago.
