I hate voter fraud. The idea of defrauding the system that is designed to give everyone eligible a chance is something that has always bothered me. However, this is the worst sort I’ve ever heard of if these allegations are indeed true.
The short version is basically someone took a mentally disabled person to vote, then voted for whoever the hell they wanted to regardless of the mentally disabled person’s preference. In this case, the vote was cast for Obama instead of McCain. Frankly, I don’t care if it was cast for Fluffy-Fluffy Pink Unicorn or Magic instead of Purr-purr the Kitten of freaking destiny. This just disgusts me in ways that I didn’t know I could be disgusted when it came to voter fraud.
First, there is the idea of defrauding our electoral system. It ain’t perfect, but it’s what we’ve got. We want our system to work since that’s really the only protections we’ve got. When someone defrauds the system, then they take away our protections just a little bit.
Next, there’s the victim in this, a mentally disabled person who simply wanted to vote for the President of the United States. Then, he has someone cast a vote for the other guy? Where in the world is that right? Oh yeah, it ain’t!
What’s worse is that it doesn’t look like the victim was alone. Several others claim to have had similar experiences. So it looks like there is a whole lot more that needs to be done, and a whole lot more that may deserve prosecution as well.
I sincerely hope these allegations are false, because I personally believe people who do things like this get a special place in hell, one usually reserved for child molesters and people who think Paris Hilton is cool!
Happens during every election here in Albany.
And that’s probably what makes me madder than anything else.
