They already have significant stakes in several financial sector businesses. Our educational system is ranked near the bottom among industrialized nations. As some of you know, George Tiller, a late-term abortion provider in Kansas, was murdered yesterday in his church. Now, on abortion itself, my own feelings can be seen on my website. That said, the murder of a business man simply for providing a legal service that you disagree with is absolutely reprehensible, and defending the murderer is just as disgusting. Icarus, over on Peach Pundit, posted an interesting post that I think bears a little bit more discussion. It starts off as an issue with one individual, but morphs quickly into an astute observation of the current partisanship in American politics. In all honesty, there is only one problem with Icarus’ post…that it comes about in a period where his party is out of power. In pretty much any world, 2.5 million is a huge number unless you’re talking in terms of governmental finance. The idea of 2.5 million is kind of boggling to most folks, who aren’t sure what it actually would look like. Count me in that group as well. It’s a massive number of money or people. And if the idea of 2.5 million people having anything in common is impressive, it should be. It just happens to be the estimated number of Americans who defend themselves annually with a firearm.
