After years of targeting Republicans, and President Bush in particular, the Democrats toppled the once powerful GOP from their pedestal of power. They pointed out to a stagnant war in Iraq, lack of progress in Afghanistan, and a floundering economy. President Bush was made to look like a demon of some sort, and that Democrats could restore the luster. After all, they were the party of hope and change, right?
