John Oxendine Shows His Hypocrisy Once Again

In what I am sure will be repeated quite often, since hypocrite is one of the best words to define John Oxendine, Ox showed his hypocrisy yet again with this tweet:

Karen Handel went negative in her speech at GOP convention. Thanks Karen for confirming I am front-runner.

Yet Oxendine himself went negative in last Sunday’s email – that was meant to be a ‘response’ to his Campaign Contribution Scandal but was anything but – when he blasted both the Atlanta Journal Constitution AND Karen Handel when he said “We accept that John Oxendine is a target of the liberal, leftist, big government AJC and that Karen Handel is their type of centrist, anti-conservative Republican.

This roughly 48 hours after an email where he promised “John Oxendine is committed to a positive, issues-oriented campaign” yet slammed Karen Handel (the only female in the Governor’s Race) by saying “Yes, one of our opponents claims she is the only candidate with private sector experience but her facts are about as accurate as her policies are conservative – not very.” and “The fact is Karen Handel has not demonstrated that she would defeat any Democrat in the November election and her negatives are higher than her positives on statewide approval ratings.

Does Georgia really want an ignorant, hypocritical, theocratic Statist as its next Governor?

I think not.

200 Posts in 111 Days

Today marks the 111th day of SWGAPolitics.com’s existence as SWGA Politics, and this post marks its 200th.

We’ve gone through quite a bit together in these past 111 days. I started this blog with an idea and no one in the political arena having any real idea who I was. Over the course of this time, I commented on nearly every single bill that was introduced in the GA State Senate, Erick Erickson himself used on of my posts on the front page of Peach Pundit, I added a partner to my efforts here, we were mentioned in the AJC’s Political Insider, we moved to our own website, and various local, state, and national politicians/reporters/activists actually started paying attention to what we write here! (Don’t worry, I’m not going to out any of you! :D )

We even managed to claim the first casualty of the 2010 Governor’s Race.

But this is only the beginning. I will continue to push this blog to bigger and better things, and I will not let our first victory be our last. I want to see our community, both here and in the real world, continue to grow, and we’ve got some things in the pipeline that will help with that. We will continue to be hard hitting but fair in our commentary, and we will continue to put forth Freedom with every once of strength we have.

Let’s get to work! :)

SWGA Politics Claims the First Casualty of the 2010 Governor’s Race

The GAGOP is meeting at their annual convention in Savannah this weekend, so expect a LOT of things to be going on over on their side of the house, particularly with the various Governor campaigns.

But one of the most interesting things for us here at SWGA Politics is that John Oxendine has revamped his website – to specifically exclude all of the pages and statements referenced in my ‘John Oxendine and Liberty’ mini-series.

I’m sure Ox will try to spin it otherwise, but the fact of the matter is that ‘Ox and Liberty’ has been getting a wide variety of attention in a wide range of places, including the AJC’s Political Insider and the forums at GeorgiaPacking.org among many others. And ‘Ox and Liberty’ makes a very strong case for anyone that loves liberty – or even consistency and honesty – that John Oxendine should NOT be the next Governor.

So the Oxendine campaign has removed all of the pages referenced, but SWGA Politics will be putting the text of those pages up over the weekend, even if I have to do it on my personal site.

Again: SWGA Politics was the FIRST on the scene firing the heavy ammunition in this campaign, and we have already scored our first victory, only really one month in to the campaign.

You have my word, we will be continuing with everything we have been doing, and we will be spreading it to other campaigns soon.

Subsidizing other’s convenience

Dougherty County Schools are experiencing a budget crunch. Frankly, it’s not that surprising when you think about it. School systems are primarily funded through property taxes, and property ain’t such a hot commodity these days. School Board Chairman David Maschke offered a lot of proposals recently in an effort to spur discussion about how to save money. First, my hat’s off to you Mr. Maschke. It’s nice to see someone who’s elected to office not try and snatch more of our hard earned dollars here in Dougherty County.

An Open Letter Regarding the Supreme Court

Dear President Obama,

I don’t actually expect you to read this, much less comment, but other people will read this, and hopefully it will make some difference.  I write to you as an American taxpayer and voter.  No, I didn’t vote for you.  I don’t hesitate to tell you this because we are the United States of America, and I’m free to vote for whomever I so choose, and I didn’t feel you were best for this nation. In all fairness though, neither was Senator McCain. Continue reading An Open Letter Regarding the Supreme Court

Assistant Fire Chief Fired

The citizens are often told that emergency services and first responders are to be used for, well, for emergency situations of course! The nation laughed at the lady that called 911 because McDonalds ran out of chicken nuggets and similar misuses of resources have been documented.

Remember the incident where the local fire department was called on April Fool’s Day to report that a car had gone off of the bridge? News reports reminded us of the dangers of such pranks because emergency departments that are investigating what could be a prank cannot service genuine emergencies. That only makes sense, and anyone with the ability to think logically should know that.

What was the reason then that Albany Fire Department Assistant Chief Roderick Jolivette decided to us his position to misuse fire department resources and clean a relative’s home following the recent flooding? You would think that the Assistant Fire Chief would know better. If not, maybe his position should be reconsidered.
Reconsidering his position was exactly what Fire Chief James Carswell did, and Assistant Chief Jolivette was terminated.

The 5000 Year Leap

Last night was the monthly meeting of the area book club. We have been discussing the 5000 Year Leap. The book looks at the history of this country starting with the Jamestown settlers. Their financial backers wanted to see what would happen if communal economics were tried. There were no private property rights and everyone was to share in the work. Out of 9000 original settlers, only 1000 survived that first year.

Those that did survive began to stray from the original plan of the backers and free enterprise principles began to filter up. Those principles were tested and refined for over 150 years before our founding documents were drawn up and descendants of those early settlers, particularly from the colony of Virginia, were among our founding fathers.

The beginning of the end of privacy

Cameras. Almost all of us own at least one of some description. In fact, most cell phones have a camera. Cameras are an everyday way of life for us these days. Unfortunately, they’re about to become a lot more common for people in Albany. The City of Albany has just purchased 16 cameras to be installed throughout downtown Albany.

The following is from an Albany Herald story regarding this.
