Listening To The People?

On April 15, 2009, hundreds of thousands of Americans literally took to the streets to protest the federal government.  The entire staff of SWGA Politics hit the tea parties, with Bill Waller serving as co-organizer of the Albany Tea Party and I as a speaker.  Jeff was conspicuous at the Leesburg Tea Party as well.  This was, in my opinion, one of the finest moments in American History.  It was the system of free speech at work.

However, I read time and time again about how the tea parties were astroturfing.  In a recent post on The Democratic Strategist, attacks were leveled against some core libertarian groups. Continue reading Listening To The People?

No Matter Who’s Fault, We’re Stuck

The President has said that this isn’t his deficit, because he inherited this mess. To some extent, he’s right. However, it is most definitely his deficit, because he’s the President if nothing else. Today, MSNBC is reporting that the deficit will top $1.8 Trillion. If that sounds like a big number, keep in mind that it’s more than four times last year’s record deficit. My position on gay marriage is pretty well documented, including a piece on just such a topic yesterday.  However, my personal position is irrelevant.  This isn’t about me, but about Miss California.  She’s stirred up the proverbial s*** storm with her comments about her personal belief that marriage is something that should be between a man and a woman.  Yes, I disagree with her.  However, I’m going to do something that may surprise many.  I’m going to defend Prejean.
