State Rep Ed Rynders (R-Leesburg), has, in fact, put forth HB 800, which is the Albany/Dougherty Consolidation Bill. Carol Fullerton HAS signed on to it.
Here’s what I find to be relevant about this:
I’m not sure how many members sit on the City Commission or the County Commission, but the combined Albany-Dougherty County Commission would have 8 members in single-member districts. Furthermore, I’m not sure the exact dynamics of the County Commission Chair and Albany Mayor, but there would be a single Chief Elected Officer that would be elected by the people of Albany-Dougherty County in the newly consolidated government.

The following was provided by the organizer of the Leesburg Tea Party, Micheal Sabot:
I haven’t been involved in a protest since I was in High School in the 60′s
But I am so angry and scared about where our country is going and what I see happening in Washington today, that something has to be done. Politicians don’t listen to one person, but they do listen to groups.
In more than 1000 communities across the country Tea Party protests are being organized. I am organizing a Tax Day Tea Party to be held April 15 from 5 – 7 pm at the Leesburg court house.
This is a protest to Big government out of control, Spending, Bailouts, Taxes, Debit out of Control.
Price of admission is 1 tea bag per person. All proceeds are to be hand delivered to Senator Johnny Isakson at his speech on April 17 in Albany.
As I told my sister last week, when you wake-up next year, and your eclectic bill goes from $70 to $300 a month for some global warming carbon tax, you get what you deserve.

Admission Price Update – Due to Continued Spending, Intrest and Future Infation and Budget
Adults 1 tea bag
12 – 18 2 tea bags
12 and Under 3 tea bags

The following is an email I sent to each of the State Senators in the SWGA area, including my own Senator, Senator John Crosby.
Senator Crosby,
I hope this email finds you in time and that you are doing well. I want to ask you to please vote NAY on HB 160 when it comes before the Senate today. I believe it to be nothing more than a tax increasing money grab, and I further believe that it erodes individual freedoms by excessively limiting personal judgment.
For example, I’ve driven I-75 quite frequently in my life. I was born and raised in Cartersville and went to KSU for my degree, and drove the 20 miles or so back and forth on I-75 every day to class. I also live in Leesburg now, and for the first 9 months that I lived here I worked in Macon. 70 of the 100 miles, one way, between my home and my workplace were on I-75. While living in Cartersville, I also worked in Covington for 6 months, and the vast majority of that drive between home and work was on both I-75 and I-20, into and out of the heart of Atlanta – indeed, I used the very I-75/I-20 interchange that the Capitol sits within a half a mile of.
In that extensive driving experience on the Interstates, I cannot tell you the innumerous times I personally was driving 80 mph or greater and flowing with traffic! Had I been going any slower, I could have caused untold numbers of wrecks and/ or caused untold traffic jams. The same would be said of ANYONE who was going slower, due to fluid flow dynamics which play a heavy role in traffic flow and traffic flow analysis.
HB 160 won’t stop this excessive speeding of traffic in general, and will only cause certain people to slow down, leading to accidents and further congestion – both already major problems on our roadways, even here in SWGA.
PLEASE vote no on this measure.
Thank you for your time,
Jeff

My Friend sent the same letter to Freddie Sims that she sent to Carol Fullerton in this post, and this was Senator Sims’ response:
You are absolutely correct. Voters should have an opportunity to vote and they will! I have been in constant contact with Mayor Adams and Chairman Sinyard and they are both in agreement with the process being completed so that citizens can vote. Thank you for your interest.
Freddie Sims
Again, Rep Fullerton’s email address is carol.fullerton@house.ga.gov. State Senator Freddie Sims’ email is freddie.sims@senate.ga.gov. State Rep Ed Rynders’ email is erynders@bellsouth.net, and State Rep Winfred Dukes’ email is winfred.dukes@house.ga.gov.
